We are currently offering customizations on the Organic Box, and limited customizations on the Fresh Essentials Box (milk selection only). Once the box has been added to your cart, view your cart and click "customize box". You will need to remove an item before you can add another. Customizations/substitutions can only be made AFTER the current week's box contents have been published (Saturday mornings) and BEFORE your order cut-off date/time. You can also customize a box with a Build-Your-Own Box and choose your produce a la carte.

To Our Customers:

With the escalation of the COVID-19 threat in the U.S., we understand that many of you are opting to stay home or self-quarantine in an effort to protect yourselves and your families. We want you to know that your health and safety are our top priorities and we are taking every precaution to ensure we deliver your food safely, and in a timely manner.

Currently, the FDA and CDC have no evidence that the virus can be transmitted via food, but out of an abundance of caution we have implemented the following measures:

• Our food handlers and delivery drivers have received additional training and instructions regarding handwashing and proper food handling, and are required to wear gloves when packing fresh and/or unwrapped foods.

• Our workspaces are cleaned and disinfected throughout the day.

• Meal Kits are assembled and/or supervised by an employee certified in food safety.

• Employees showing signs of illness will be required to stay home.

• We are prepared to add additional routes to ensure timely delivery.

As a local company with local delivery drivers, we are proud to be able to deliver fresh foods to your door with minimal processing and handling.
Many of our local delivery drivers have been with us for years, and they are more than happy to make special delivery accommodations that large shipping companies just can’t offer; please reach out if you have any special instructions via help@wggmarket.com. Please note that we will limit close interactions, for now, in the interest of keeping our team members safe and healthy.

Currently, there is no evidence of food or food packaging being associated with transmission of COVID-19.  Like other viruses, it is possible that the virus that causes COVID-19 can survive on surfaces or objects. For that reason, it is critical to follow the 4 key steps of food safety – clean, separate, cook, and chill.

If you are concerned about contamination of food or food packaging, wash your hands after handling food packaging, after removing food from the packaging, before you prepare food for eating and before you eat. Consumers can follow CDC guidelines on frequent hand washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; and frequent cleaning and disinfecting of surfaces.

Your delivery day can be found on your account page when you log in. Just click the box in the upper right-hand corner to view your upcoming delivery days/dates. You have until two days prior at 9 pm to place your order. Don't worry...we will send you email notifications to make sure you don't forget.
While we can't currently guarantee a specific delivery time, most deliveries are made between 11 am and 7 pm. Occasionally, we may run later due to traffic, weather, and other unforeseen circumstances.  
If you want to edit or place a late order, please send an email to us at help@washingtonsgreengrocer.com and we will try to accommodate your request.

Please note that if you forget to cancel or modify an order before the order cut-off time (9 pm two days prior to delivery) and it goes out for delivery, you will not be able to receive a refund or credit for the order. 
You sure can! Click on "My Account" and choose "Delivery Hold" from the drop-down menu - then enter the dates you'll be away and click "Add Vacation".

Nope! There is never any obligation or commitment. Choose to receive our Organic, Mixed, or Local Farm Box Every Week or Every Other Week, or Build-Your-Own box for a specific date...it's totally up to you! All we ask is that if you need to cancel, you let us know by 9 p.m. two nights before your scheduled delivery (about 48 hours), so we can take you out of our routes and not prepare a box for you.

No. In fact, the majority of our deliveries are left for folks in pre-determined spots at their homes. If your spot is unprotected from the elements, we will put the box in a big plastic bag (please recycle it!) in the case of inclement weather. If you are ordering meat or dairy, we do require that you leave us a cooler with an ice pack or two, to keep your items cold until you get home. 
Absolutely! We do ask that you let the front desk staff know that we will be coming and we will leave it with them or bring it up to your apartment door. If you live in a building without a front desk, you may make arrangements with a neighbor to buzz us in or you can give us a key to your building and we'll leave the box in front of your door.

If there are any items that you never want to receive, you can note it in your customer profile and we'll be sure not to deliver them. If you have not had a chance to make your substitution and there is a "never deliver" item on that week's list, we will make a substitution for you based on your past preferences.

In the nearly 25 years we've been doing this, we have not had more than a few casualties! If you are ordering meat or dairy items and won't be home to accept delivery, we do ask that you leave a cooler with ice packs or frozen water bottles. We'll place any items that need to be kept cold in your cooler. As always, if there is a problem with any of the items in your box, please let us know and we will make it right - either by crediting your account - or, if you prefer, delivering extra portions of a list item of your choosing with your next delivery.

We have stopped picking up used cardboard boxes due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, we ask that you continue to put your used, insulated WGG cooler bags out on your delivery day so that we can pick them up, disinfect and reuse them as needed. (Please go to the Featured Products page and select "Pick Up My Bags!" to let us know when you will be leaving them out.) We encourage you to recycle your cardboard boxes at home or drop them off at a local recycling center.
